FONTANA TO DISTRIBUTE AMOEBA RECORDS
Los Angeles, California, Wednesday, September 12, 2007 – Fontana, the independent distribution arm of Universal Music Group, the world’s leading music company, will distribute Amoeba Records, the label created by Amoeba Music, the world’s largest independently-owned record store. The announcement was made today by David Zierler, VP of Business Development for Fontana and David Prinz of Amoeba Music.
Amoeba Music was opened in Berkeley in 1990 and has since expanded to retail stores in San Francisco’s Haight-Ashbury district and Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood, as well as a vibrant online presence (www.amoeba.com). The store, known for its diverse musical selection and for providing a welcoming atmosphere for passionate music lovers, extended its brand to create Amoeba Records. The label will focus on releasing rare, previously unavailable and special albums; one-of-a-kind live in-stores; Amoeba compilations, special collaborations and select new artists.

Amoeba Records releases will include musical gems ranging from the singer-songwriter Brandi Shearer (street date: August 28), to the recently discovered live recordings from musical legend Gram Parsons & the Flying Burrito Brothers (street date: October 30).
