Universal City, CA, April 4, 2011 – Expanding further their commitment to urban music and its thriving community, Fontana, the independent distribution arm of Universal Music Group, the world’s leading music company, has appointed Ray Arceneaux, Jr. to Director of Marketing, it was announced today by Bryan Mead, SVP of Marketing and Label Operations, to whom Mr. Arceneaux reports.

In this new role, Mr. Arceneaux will oversee many areas of Fontana’s urban music business, including urban sales planning with retail, artist product management, and acting as the label manager for such indies as Strange Music, Hoo Bangin, Mad Science, Melee and more.

Mr. Arceneaux most recently served as the VP of Urban Sales & Marketing at the WEA Corp. Formerly, he held senior sales & marketing positions at Priority/Capitol and PolyGram Group Distribution. He began his retail career working at Handleman and The Wherehouse. Throughout his career, Mr. Arceneaux has worked closely with such critically-acclaimed artists as T.I, Trey Songz, Lupe Fiasco, Fabolous, Mike Jones, B.O.B., Jaheim, Snoop Dog, Ice Cube, Scarface, Twista, Fat Joe, Janelle Monae and Talib Kweli, among many others.
