New UMPG Global Board Announced

Los Angeles, CA, October 13, 2011 – Universal Music Group (UMG), the world’s leading music company, has promoted Evan Lamberg to President of Universal Music Publishing Group (UMPG), North America, it was announced today by Zach Horowitz, UMG President & COO and Lucian Grainge, UMG Chairman & CEO, to whom he jointly reports. Formerly, Mr. Lamberg served as Executive Vice President of Creative for UMPG, East Coast.

In this new role, Mr. Lamberg will oversee the North American operations for the industry’s leading global music publishing company, including its Pop, Urban, Country, Latin, Christian/Gospel and Canadian divisions. Mr. Lamberg will be based at UMPG’s world-wide headquarters in Santa Monica, California.

Moreover, it was also announced today that UMPG has created a global board that will seek to further maximize opportunities for UMPG talent and business partners on a worldwide basis. The UMPG Global Board will include Mr. Lamberg, Paul Connolly (President, UK and Europe), Eddie Fernandez (Senior Vice President, Latin America), Andrew Jenkins (Executive Vice President, Asia Pacific Region/Industry Affairs), Gary Gross (Worldwide President, Universal Publishing Production Music), and Michael J. Sammis (Executive Vice President – Operations & Chief Financial Officer Worldwide).

As one of the most respected music publishing executives in the industry, Mr. Lamberg is renowned for finding and developing top-level songwriting talent, delivering hit songs and advocating on behalf of songwriters to protect their interests. During his time at UMPG, Mr. Lamberg has signed and/or worked with many of the world’s biggest songwriters and artists, including multi-platinum recording artist Justin Bieber (co-signed with UMP EVP/Head of Urban Music, Ethiopia Habtemariam), Owl City, Songwriter Hall of Fame inductee Desmond Child, 30 Seconds to Mars, Sean Garrett, and Jackie Evancho to name just a few. He also was integral in signing a joint venture publishing agreement with GloJoe Music, the music publishing enterprise of Vincent Herbert and Troy Carter. The first signing to the JV was hit-maker DJ White Shadow who has eight cuts on Lady Gaga’s album, Born This Way, including the third single “Edge of Glory” which topped iTunes charts in the both the U.S. and U.K. Shadow also co-wrote the album’s title song, “Born This Way,” which debuted atop the Billboard Hot 100 and hit No. 1 in twenty countries.

Prior to joining UMPG, Mr. Lamberg had over seventeen years of successful creative leadership at EMI Music Publishing where he served in various positions, including Executive Vice President of Creative, North America. His responsibilities included identifying, developing, and signing top level talent and paring them with lucrative commercial projects. His list of clients has included Rob Thomas/Matchbox Twenty, Sean “Diddy” Combs, Jessica Simpson, Jakob Dylan, Pink, LL Cool J, Hootie & the Blowfish and Paula Abdul, among others. Mr. Lamberg also worked at Gibson Guitar Corporation as the Executive Vice President of Operations/Global Entertainment Relations where he was responsible for a world-wide marketing department of over one hundred artist relations and entertainment executives in thirteen countries.

Mr. Lamberg has a Bachelors of Music from New York University and recently earned a dual MBA from Cornell University and Queen’s Business School. He serves on the Board of Directors for The Songwriters Hall of Fame and is involved in organizational charities such as the Muscular Dystrophy Association and the City of Hope.
