HAMBURG/BERLIN, November 4, 2010 – Ute Fesquet has been appointed to Vice President, Artists & Repertoire, for Deutsche Grammophon, the world’s leading classical music label. The appointment was announced today by Frank Briegmann, President, Universal Music Germany, Switzerland, Austria & Deutsche Grammophon, and by Michael Lang, President, Deutsche Grammophon, to whom Ms. Fesquet reports.

A cellist with background as a journalist and musicologist who has been with Deutsche Grammophon since 1997, Ms. Fesquet in her new post will head the label’s artists & repertoire department, signing artists, strengthening and expanding its A&R team, and developing the company’s unique roster of superstars and new talent.

Ms. Fesquet is promoted from Director of A&R; previously, she was Director of International Marketing & Promotion. As an Executive Producer for Deutsche Grammophon, she works with some of its most prestigious stars, including Pierre Boulez, Hélène Grimaud, Anne-Sophie Mutter, Anna Netrebko, Bryn Terfel and Rolando Villazón.

In addition to recording many of the world’s most popular artists, Deutsche Grammophon has signed a wide range of new talent during the past two-and-a-half years. These include pianists Jan Lisiecki, Alice Sara Ott, and Yuja Wang, and violinists Lisa Batiashvili and Mikhail Simonyan, as well as sopranos Mojca Erdmann and Anna Prohaska, guitarist Miloš Karadaglic, and multi-percussionist Martin Grubinger.
