SANTA MONICA, December 7, 2016 – Universal Music Publishing Group (UMPG), a leading global music publisher, is proud to announce the company has a publishing interest related to 80 nominations in a wide range of 35 categories for the 59th Annual Grammy Awards.

UMPG’s Adele scored five prestigious nominations for Record of the Year, Album of the Year, Song of the Year for “Hello,” Best Pop Solo Performance and Best Pop Vocal Album. Justin Bieber received four for Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album for Purpose, and Song of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance for his global hit “Love Yourself.” Keith Urban received three nominations including Best Country Album for Ripcord. Ariana Grande, Halsey and producer Swizz Beatz each took two nominations. Demi Lovato received her first-ever nomination for Best Pop Vocal Album for Confident. Other UMPG nominees include Justin Timberlake, Snarky Puppy, Gregory Porter, The Record Company, Alabama Shakes, Metallica, Coldplay, Tory Lanez, La Santa Cecilia, Teddy Sinclair, Cassadee Pope, Jeff Bhasker, and Jamie xx, among many others.

Besides Adele and Justin Bieber’s Song of the Year nods, UMPG writers received numerous nominations in song categories including Rock Song, R&B Song, Rap Song, Country Song, Song Written for Visual Media, Best Contemporary Christian Music Performance/Song and Best Gospel Performance/Song (via Capitol CMG).

Writer/producer Benny Blanco, who is represented by Universal Music Publishing Group, was nominated for Producer of the Year, Non-Classical, for his work with UMPG artists Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez, The Weeknd, among others.

For Album of the Year, UMPG writers made substantial contributions to four of the five nominated, including the global chart-topping albums: Adele 25, Beyonce Lemonade, Justin Bieber Purpose, and Drake Views. UMPG writers also have interest in all five nominated for Best Pop Vocal Album, as well as all six nominated for Best Rap Album.

The Grammy Awards will be held in Los Angeles on Sunday, February 12, 2017, and broadcast on CBS.
