Universal City, California, Monday, February 9, 2009 – Universal Music Group Distribution (UMGD), the market-leading sales and distribution division of Universal Music Group (UMG), the world’s leading music company, was named “The Best” in two categories by the National Association of Record Industry Professionals (NARIP). The Association’s annual “Best in the Biz” poll honors the leading talent in the music industry.
Jim Urie, President & CEO of UMGD, was named Best Traditional Distribution Executive, garnering 37.3% of the vote, while UMGD won the Best Traditional Company category with a landslide 48.3% of the vote. The poll of industry professionals identifies top-level executive talent and company know-know and has grown steadily in popularity, increasing its polling figures five-fold this year.
