Universal Music Group Celebrates the 47th Annual CMA Awards
On Wednesday November 6, the 47th Annual Country Music Association Awards were broadcast live from Bridgestone Arena in Nashville. Universal Music Group's artists won big, snagging awards in 8 of 13 categories on country music's biggest night.
Hosted by Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley, the star-studded night featured an opening performance from Luke Bryan and Florida Georgia Line with additional performances from Taylor Swift, Tim McGraw, Eric Church, The Band Perry and Keith Urban throughout the evening.
With four awards, Taylor Swift was the big winner of the night at last night’s 47th Annual CMA Awards ceremony. Taylor was honored with the CMA’s Pinnacle Award, and also took home trophies for Video of the Year, Musical Event of the Year (both for “Highway Don’t Care” with Tim McGraw and Keith Urban), and International Artist Achievement. MCA Nashville's George Strait was honored with the night's top prize of Entertainer of the Year. Having won the same award in 1989 and 1990, the country legend made a triumphant return after a 23 year absence as he plans to retire in 2014.
Immediately following the telecast, UMG Nashville’s after party was held at club Anthem and was sponsored by Yoplait Greek Yogurt and ATT U-verse. UMG Chairman and CEO Lucian Grainge was on hand to celebrate the night's achievements alongside UMG Nashville Chairman & CEO Mike Dungan, other major UMG executives, and many of the night’s big winners.
