New York-bred singer/songwriter and producer Matthew Koma has released The Cherrytree Sessions EP in the US (available September 2 internationally). The EP features Koma performing acoustic versions of his hit EDM collaborations with artists including Alesso and Zedd along with the official acoustic release of Koma’s new track “Suitcase”. Check out Matthew’s performances of “Suitcase” and “Clarity” Live At The Cherrytree House.
An inventive songwriter with a keen sense of melody, Matthew Koma has created a genre-bending sound by merging organic production with the left-of-center melodic finesse he’s carefully honed through his work with such artists as Swedish House Mafia’s Sebastian Ingrosso, Alesso, Nicky Romero, Fedde Le Grand and EDM phenom Zedd whose #1 dance record of the year “Spectrum” Koma co-wrote, featured on and performed live with Zedd at the 2013 MTVu Woodie Awards.

Matthew and Zedd teamed up again on Zedd’s platinum hit single "Clarity" which Koma says, “was originally written to a completely different track. I wrote and recorded it to a track Zedd sent me but he wound up lifting the acappella and he put it on what is now the track for "Clarity". One of those happy accidents. It's been really humbling to see a song take on a life of its own like it has.”

Koma also possesses an uncommon versatility when it comes to crafting hooks. It's that versatility that first led him to make a major splash co-writing the 2012 smash single "Calling (Lose My Mind)" by Swedish DJ/producers Sebastian Ingrosso and Alesso featuring Ryan Tedder. Koma again collaborated with Alesso co-writing and featuring on "Years" (which he also performed live during Alesso's set at the 2012 Coachella Festival). In addition, Matthew co-wrote and is featured on "Sparks" by DJs Nicky Romero and Fedde Le Grand.

Matthew fuses his appreciation for the master singer-songwriters (especially his heroes Elvis Costello and Bruce Springsteen) with signature electro/pop sensibility that is undeniably of the moment.

With his latest achievements including remixing Springsteen's single 2012 "Rocky Ground" (after getting hand-picked by his hero for the track), Koma has also toured extensively throughout North America and Europe with artists like LMFAO, Charlie XCX and Ellie Goulding. Don’t miss him perform Tuesday October 8, 15, 22 and 29 at Hotel Café in Los Angeles.
