UNIVERSAL MUSIC GROUP HOLDS NUMBER ONE CHART POSITION IN TWELVE CATEGORIES

UMG Leads Again With The No. 1, 2, 3, & 4 Best-Selling Albums



Santa Monica, California, October 25, 2000 – Universal Music Group (UMG) holds twelve No. 1 positions in various SoundScan charts while also holding the top four consecutive positions in the Top Current Albums chart for week-ending October 22, 2000.

UMG leads the industry in sales with the No. 1 best-selling album in the country, Limp Bizkit’s Chocolate Starfish and The Hot Dog Flavored Water (Interscope), which debuted at this position. Other No. 1 positions held by Limp Bizkit this week are Albums by Mass Merchants, Albums by Retailers and Top Internet Sales.

No. 1 on both the Top R&B Albums and Top Rap Albums chart is Ja Rule’s Rule (Def Jam) No. 1 on the Top R&B Singles chart is Erykah Badu’s Bag Lady (Motown). Diana Krall’s When I Look In Your Eyes (Impulse!) tops the Traditional Jazz Albums chart. Andrea Bocelli’s Verdi (Philips) is No. 1 on both the Traditional Classical and Overall Classical charts. The No. 1 Catalog Album is Godsmack’s self-titled album (Universal). The Baller Blockin’ soundtrack (Cash Money/Universal) is No. 1 on the Top Music Video chart.

In addition to these No. 1 positions, UMG albums also hold the top four consecutive positions of the Top Current Albums chart with Limp Bizkit’s Chocolate Starfish and The Hot Dog Flavored Water [No.1]; Ja Rule’s Rule [No. 2]; Nelly’s debut album Country Grammar [No. 3] (Universal); and Ludacris’ debut album Back for The First Time [No. 4] (Def Jam).

Also in the Top 20 are 98 Degrees’ Revelation [No. 8] (Universal); 3-Doors Down’s The Better Life [No. 10] (Republic/Universal); Eminem’s The Marshall Mathers LP [No. 11] (Aftermath/Interscope); Papa Roach’s Infest [No. 18] (DreamWorks); and The Wallflowers’ Breach [No. 19] (Interscope).
