UNIVERSAL MUSIC GROUP SIGNS EXCLUSIVE LICENSING AGREEMENT WITH DONG MUSIC IN CHINA

NEW DEAL AIMS TO BREAK CHINA’S NEW YOUNG ARTISTS

Beijing, China, July 16, 2007 - Universal Music Group (UMG), the world’s largest music company, has signed an exclusive licensing agreement with innovative Chinese record label, Dong Music International, to develop and promote its roster of contemporary artists throughout the Mainland and to the world.

The new agreement gives UMG worldwide physical and digital licensing and distribution rights for Dong Music’s repertoire. The partnership will be kicked off in August with a compilation album release, titled “Dong Le Yuan” (“Dong Music Land”). It will feature a music CD of 12 tracks by four singers and two bands, plus a DVD with documentary footage on the record company and live artist performances. Showcasing the best of Dong Music, the release will be promoted with a 20-city campus tour around the Chinese Mainland beginning in September.

Dong Music is a Beijing-based talent company established in 2006 by Mr. Zhang Ya Dong, China’s top and most sought-after composer/musician/producer. Closely affiliated with many award-winning artists, Zhang has worked with most of China’s renowned stars, including singers Faye Wong, Pu Shu and Xu Wei, and band Catcher in the Rye. Dong Music’s fresh, young artists include singer Zhang Shi Di, band Fruity Vitamin C and multi-talented singer-songwriter/novelist, Tian Yuan. Also, its talent roster includes model Chang Chun Xiao and popular actress Li Xiaoran.

“This is a very exciting opportunity for us, to confirm Dong Music as a premium Chinese pop-music brand,” says Founder Zhang Ya Dong. “Dong Music is focused on adding a breath of fresh air to the local music scene by signing on more new singers, songwriters and bands. We will work with Universal Music to develop their talent and showcase China’s amazing modern pop artists around the country, and to the rest of the world.”

Says Hung Tik, Managing Director of Universal Music China and Hong Kong: “I first worked with Zhang Ya Dong 10 years ago, on Faye Wong during the peak of her career. It’s really great to partner with him again, so we can grow and strengthen China’s music industry together.”

Max Hole, President, Asia Pacific, Universal Music Group International, added: “We are delighted to collaborate with Zhang Ya Dong and Dong Music. This new agreement is part of Universal Music’s continual efforts to find alignment and synergy with great record companies in China, to ultimately find and develop the country’s best talents.”
