50 CENT, SCISSOR SISTERS ARE FIRST INTERNATIONAL RELEASES ON NEW UNIVERSAL MEDIA DISC FORMAT

Universal Music Kicks Off Major Business Development Around PlayStation® Portable (PSP®) Platform

LONDON, November 3, 2005 - Universal Music Group, a pioneer in the commercialisation of new digital music delivery platforms, announces the international release of its first two titles on the Universal Media Disc (UMD®). Signalling major support for the format from the world’s largest record company, this week’s releases are 50 Cent’s The Massacre – Special Edition and Scissor Sisters’ We Are Scissor Sisters And So Are You.

In addition, Universal Music Group plans a continuing UMD® release schedule over coming weeks, including artists such as Eminem, Jack Johnson, Snoop Dogg, Prince, Audioslave and Limp Bizkit.

True to its name, Universal Media Disc is a versatile media distribution format, which is a key enabling technology behind Sony’s PlayStation® Portable (PSP®) system. Already exploited as a platform for video games and movies, UMD® provides record companies with a versatile vehicle to market a rich mix of album music, videos, live concert footage and personal artist interviews to a burgeoning market of young, mobile music lovers.

With mobility being one of today’s strongest entertainment market drivers, analysts are tipping PSP® to be one of the big success stories on European high streets this Christmas season. International sales of PSP® are set to reach 17 million by second quarter 2006.

Against this background, UMD® promises a significant new revenue stream for Universal Music. Olivier Robert-Murphy, Vice President, Universal Music Group International, comments, “UMD® and PSP® offer a mix of high quality sound and vision, ultimate portability and sleek design, which compliments young and vibrant lifestyles. It fits the needs and tastes of today’s younger generation: it empowers the user, enabling them to watch and listen to their favourite bands when, where and how they wish.”

50 Cent and Scissor Sisters available on UMD®

The UMD® release, Scissor Sisters’ We Are Scissor Sisters And So Are You, features hits from the U.K. music industry’s biggest-selling album of 2004, which many consider the best pop album of recent times. The disc contains a concert featuring the band playing live to a packed house at the Brighton Dome, with a set list that includes almost every song from their debut album, plus three non-album songs. Employing high-quality production with excellent sound and picture quality, this format represents a new, neat way for fans to experience these fantastic entertainers. Also featured on this UMD® is a band documentary, a "4Play Film" introducing the band and five of Scissor Sisters’ music videos.

50 Cent’s The Massacre – Special Edition includes two of the biggest hip hop tracks of 2005, “Candy Shop” and “Just A ’Lil Bit.” This UMD® is packed with music videos for every track on the album (21 in total), and also includes a movie trailer for the upcoming feature film release “Get Rich Or Die Tryin’ ” and a trailer for 50 Cent’s video game “Bulletproof.”

Aggressive UMD® promotion strategy

Alongside news of these two new European releases, Universal Music has posted its intent to further support the UMD® format: the company has slated a further eight titles for Christmas release, followed by a further four titles early next year. The release schedule includes:

· Audioslave – Live In Cuba

· Jack Johnson – A Weekend At The Greek

· The Police – Synchronicity

· Bob Marley – Legend

· Prince – At The Aladdin Las Vegas

· Rob Zombie – Hellbilly Deluxe (exclusive to UMD®)

· Blink 182 – Greatest Hits

· Eminem – All Access Europe

Titles to be released on UMD® early next year include:

· Eminem – Anger Management

· Limp Bizkit – Video Hits

· Snoop Dogg – Bossin Up

· Rolling Stones - Rock and Roll Circus

Olivier Robert-Murphy concludes, “This format’s name – Universal Media Disc – is very appropriate since we wholeheartedly support it and believe it offers exciting new ways for music fans to experience their favourite artists in full motion video. PSP® and UMD® are just what we have been looking for and represent a sound platform for us to grow our international video business.”
