SANTA MONICA, April 16, 2014 - Universal Music Group Distribution (UMGD), the sales, marketing and distribution arm of Universal Music Group (UMG), the world’s leading music company, will release exclusive vinyl titles from a wide array of artists in celebration of Record Store Day. The annual event, which takes place this year on Saturday, April 19th, celebrates the importance and vitality of the independent music store.

UMGD will be offering releases from dozens of top artists, including Childish Gambino, Five Finger Death Punch, Jake Bugg, Katy Perry, Sky Ferreira and Tame Impala, as well as exclusive titles from such legendary artists as Nirvana, Public Enemy, Soundgarden and Sam Cooke.

Moreover, a number of artists will be participating directly in Record Store Day with in-store appearances, including G. Love at Record Breakers in Chicago, Ghost BC at Reckless Records in Chicago, Little Dragon at Amoeba in Los Angeles, Phillip Phillips at Rasputin in Berkeley, Taking Back Sunday and The Used at Gallery of Sound in Wilkes-Barre, PA, and many more throughout the country. 

Record Store Day was conceived in 2007 as a way to celebrate and spread the word about the unique culture surrounding nearly 1000 independently owned record stores in the US and thousands of similar stores internationally.
