UNIVERSAL MUSIC PUBLISHING RENEWS DEAL WITH STEVE BOOKER
LONDON, 4 February 2014 - Universal Music Publishing has renewed its worldwide publishing deal with Ivor Novello and Grammy award winning songwriter and producer Steve Booker. The deal covers his future output and previous work, including the international hit singles ‘Love Me Again’ (John Newman) and ‘Mercy’ (Duffy).
Steve Booker’s songs have sold over 30 million records to date, and he has written and produced for artists including John Newman, Rebecca Ferguson, Lisa-Marie Presley and many more.
His most recent success has been co-writing six songs on John Newman’s debut album ‘Tribute’, which shot straight to the top of the UK album charts on release in October 2013. His co-writes and productions include the album’s lead single - the international hit ‘Love Me Again’ - which has sold over 2 million copies worldwide, going Platinum in the UK and Gold in the US – as well as picking up a nomination for Best Single at the 2014 Brit Awards.
Steve Booker also co-wrote and produced four songs on Duffy’s debut album ‘Rockferry’, including the worldwide smash hit single ‘Mercy’ – which topped the UK singles chart for 5 weeks, charted at No. 1 in multiple territories, and has sold over 5 million copies worldwide. The single won an Ivor Novello Award in 2009 for Most Performed Work, as well as receiving both Grammy and Brit nominations.
