UMG Artists Awarded at 2007 CMA Awards
The 41st annual Country Music Awards were held in Nashville on November 7, UMG’s George Strait and Sugarland were among the night’s winners.
Country Music Hall of Fame legend George Strait (MCA Nashville, US) took home his sixth Album of the Year award for It Comes Natural, produced by Tony Brown.
Strait took to the stage and performed “How ‘Bout Them Cowgirls”. Strait’s “Give it Away” won the Song of the Year award for songwriters Bill Anderson, Buddy Cannon, and Jamey Johnson.
Sugarland’s Kristian Bush and Jennifer Nettles accepted the Vocal Duo of the Year Award, breaking a six year winning streak held by Brooks & Dunn.
Sugarland (Mercury Nashville, US) took to the stage and performed a powerful stripped down version of “Stay” from their platinum album, Enjoy The Ride.
Additional UMG nominees included MCA Nashville artists Reba McEntire for Female Vocalist of the Year and Josh Turner for Male Vocalist of the Year.
McEntire performed “When You Love Someone Like That,” a duet with Leann Rimes. Josh Turner also took to the stage to deliver his explosive hit, “Firecracker” from his new album, Everything is Fine.
