Nas Announces Collaborations With Damian Marley & Dr. Dre!
Nas has just announced the surprise he has been hinting at for weeks - he is currently working on an upcoming collaboration with reggae star Damian "Jr. Gong" Marley, son of the late legend Bob Marley.
While the album has not yet been given a title, the unlikely duo have been recording diligently in a Los Angeles studio, "where people like Mick Jagger are recording. No one knew who we were," Nas' manager Anthony Saleh revealed. "We're going to Miami this week to finish it up and we're aiming to tour for the album this summer."
The project will most likely be released in spring 2009, which means fans of Nas have only a few months to wait. A percentage of the proceeds from all albums sold will be donated toward building a school in Africa, although these details are still being worked out.
In other new, Nas, who was nominated for two Grammys at Sunday's 51st annual awards, has also revealed his upcoming guest appearance on a song on Dr. Dre's long-in-the-works Detox album, due sometime this year.
