Major Label Debut From The 88 Slated for August 26, 2008 on Island Records
Island Records announced today that The 88 will release their major label debut Not Only...But Also on August 26, 2008.
With songs produced by Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds (Eric Clapton, Fall Out Boy, Madonna) and songs produced by Matt Wallace (Maroon 5, Paul Westerberg, Faith No More), Not Only...But Also features eleven new tracks that perfectly lock in the band's signature sound. The first single, “Coming Home”, will be serviced to radio on June 30 and available to digital retailers on July 1. The song title might be familiar to some due to its previous incarnation in commercial and television placements, but it has been re-written, re-recorded and polished into an entirely new pop gem.
Fans of The 88 will have a chance to preview new material from their August 26th release at two Southern California shows with additional tour dates to be confirmed. They are:
6/28 @ The Roxy, Los Angeles, CA (Sunset Strip Music Festival)
7/16 @ House of Blues, San Diego, CA (w/ One Republic)
“It’s refreshing to go into the studio with a unique band that takes such pride in both their sound and their songwriting,” said Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds. “The 88 are the real deal.”
“These guys are everything that you could ever hope a rock-n-roll band to be,” said producer Matt Wallace. “I have not heard music this well written, sung and played in a helluva long time. Brilliant on all levels.”
Track listing for Not Only...But Also is as follows: “Go Go Go”, “Love You Anytime”, “Coming Home”, “No One Here”, “I’m Nothing”, “Sons and Daughters”, “It’s A Lot”, “Like You Do”, “Save Your Breath”, “Waiting for the Next Drug” and “We Felt Alive”.
Best known for their endless string of music placements in film, television and advertisements, the band’s goal in making Not Only...But Also was to hone in on their core sound with the aid of the unique production talents of Edmonds and Wallace. Be it heartfelt ballads like “No One Here” or high energy rockers like “Go Go Go”, The 88 have expanded their sound and made a record that is fresh, exciting and filled with melodic textures and hooks. It’s sonically potent pop rock.
