Sunday 16th March saw hundreds of thousands of music fans flock to the Simón Bolívar Bridge, which links Colombia to Venezuela, with people from both nations lining the border river banks for a free concert given by the biggest names in Latin music today.

Organized by twelve-time Grammy winner Juanes, the free concert was given to display Latin-American unity in the face of recent border tensions between the governments of Colombia, Ecuador and Venezuela.

Prepared in a matter of days, the concert began with a performance by children from the two countries, after which Juanes was joined by a multitude of artists including Ricardo Montaner, Juan Luis Guerra, Miguel Bose and Alejandro Sanz. All performances were broadcast live across the region and worldwide via telestreams.

The media coverage on the event was un-paralleled and included Yahoo!’s creation of a special page available at www.yahootelemundo.com/musica which featured exclusive live coverage of the concert and provided fans with news, photos and videos of the participating artists. The unique streaming experience enabled users to not only watch the concert but also to be able to see and communicate with each other instantaneously - making this a truely global experience.

Juanes will be honored with the "Spirit of Hope Award" for the humanitarian work he does through his "Mi Sangre" foundation at the 2008 Billboard Latin Music Awards (airing live on Apr 10 on the Telemundo network). He travels to Italy this weekend (22nd March) to perform on the major TV show "Quelli Che Il Calcio" together with Italian rock stars, Negrita on the local language duet "Dove Le Pietre Sono Mine (Minas Piedras)."
