Blink-182 And Weezer To Perform At Virgin Mobile's FreeFest
Blink-182 and Weezer are slated to headline this event, which is taking place on August 30th at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Maryland.
In a beneficent twist, Richard Branson (Founder and President of Virgin Group) has decided to give away all tickets for the 35,000 capacity venue for free, urging attendees to donate at least $5 to RE*Generation in lieu of payment. RE*Generation is an organization dedicated to helping homeless youth.
"In a time of economic challenges and daily sacrifices, we wanted to throw a fantastic party so people could let loose and have a great time - on us," Branson, founder and president of Virgin Group, said in a statement.
In addition to offering free passes to all concert goers, promoters are also offering a chance to win VIP seating for those who complete at least 13 hours of community service at designated homeless youth shelters across the country.
Tickets were available beginning this Saturday, June 27th, via www.ticketmaster.com. For further details, please visit www.virginmobilefestival.com.
